You know that six years ago, people said New York and Downtown would never recover from 9/11. As you drove through the Canyon of Heroes, you saw how this City is rising up once again.

Six months ago, the experts said that the Giants would be a ".500" team at best.

Six days ago, they said the Giants would lose the Super Bowl by two touchdowns.

And like this great City and its great Downtown, this Giant team rose up and did what no one thought was possible by becoming champions of the world.

The New York Giants, like the City of New York, are "number one" once again.

Let me say "thank you" on behalf of all of the Giants fans in the New York State Assembly, especially Jose Peralta, Michael Cusick and Ellen Young who are here with us.

Thanks for the victory. Thanks for never giving up.

Thanks for showing the world what New Yorkers can do when we believe in ourselves.
