Assembly Committee on Aging Chair Jeffrey Dinowitz, Cities Committee Chair James Brennan, Consumer Affairs & Protection Committee Chair Audrey Pheffer and Subcommittee on Outreach and Oversight of Senior Citizen Programs Chair William F. Boyland, Jr. will evaluate the potential change in availability of services from the New York City Department for the Aging (DFTA) to seniors across the city. The public hearing will examine the implementation of the Aging Services Modernization Initiative on a citywide basis to make sure seniors will continue to receive high quality services under the newly proposed structure. The forum will seek testimony to ensure that the modernization efforts proposed by DFTA will not result in a reduction in benefits for seniors who rely on these services. Among those expected to testify include: New York State Office for the Aging Director Michael Burgess; New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson; New York City Department for the Aging Commissioner Edwin Mendez-Santiago; Queens Borough President's Office Director of Health and Human Services Paola Miceli; and Council of Senior Center & Services Director of Public Policy Bobbie Sackman. |
