Statement from Speaker Silver

Recent events on Wall Street present very serious challenges for all of us in government. New York State, particularly my Lower Manhattan community, is deeply dependent on New York City’s financial sector. I have spoken to Gov. Paterson and I and my Assembly colleagues stand ready to assist in any way we can. I have every confidence that we will weather this situation with the same determination and resourcefulness that we have weathered adversity in the past.
