Malliotakis statement on Mayor de Blasio’s budget announcement

A statement by Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I,Ref – Staten Island/Brooklyn)

"Less than a week after homeowners were slammed with massive property tax bills, Mayor de Blasio and the City Council announced a whopping $89 billion budget deal. In his first five years in office, the Mayor has managed to dramatically increase spending by 27%, nearly $20 billion more than the final budget of the Bloomberg administration. Not only is this unsustainable, but taxpayers will have a hard time rationalizing such lavish spending as rates of homelessness continue to soar, NYCHA housing is unlivable and riddled with corruption, our roads are in disrepair and our transit system is crumbling. Year after year, de Blasio treats taxpayers like ATMs and takes more of their money without improving their quality of life. That is the definition of mismanagement.”
