Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers rely on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) each day to get to and from their destinations in a safe and timely manner. Riders should be aware that the MTA has released proposed draft of LIRR schedule changes that will go into effect at the end of this year due to the opening of the new Grand Central Madison terminal.

Included in these proposed changes is eliminating peak-hour express service to and from Great Neck, Manhasset, Plandome and Port Washington, which would increase both morning and evening commutesand potentially cause overcrowding on trains.
