Assemblyman Kevin Byrne (R,C,I,SAM,ROS-Mahopac) recently completed a tour of businesses within the 94th Assembly District to recognize the winners of his inaugural Best in Business competition. The contest was created by Byrne to honor and highlight all the businesses within the 94th Assembly District that served their community through the extraordinary challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents of the district were able to vote for their favorite business in 20 different categories.
The contest was done in collaboration with various chambers of commerce and business organizations throughout the 94th Assembly District, including the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, Brewster Chamber of Commerce, Putnam County Business Council, and the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce.
“Local businesses are the backbone of our community and have made extraordinary sacrifices over the last year and a half to remain open and continue to serve their customers,” said Byrne. “These entrepreneurs employ our friends and family, are civic leaders, and take pride in their professions. It’s hard to open and run a business under the most favorable of circumstances, let alone during a pandemic. I’m grateful to all the businesses within the 94th Assembly District for what they have done to help our community during such difficult times.”
“We have so many great businesses and people here in Yorktown and the results of the Best in Business contest are a testament to that fact,” said Sergio Esposito, Yorktown Chamber of Commerce president.“I am proud to have played a part in honoring the true entrepreneurial spirit of all our contestants. Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all the businesses in our amazing town.”
Before honoring the winners, Byrne and Esposito met at the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce headquarters for a raffle for all the residents who voted. Five local businesses donated gift cards to the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce for the competition, including Jewel of Himalaya, Little Sorrento, Furci's Restaurant, Hudson Valley Steakhouse and Yorktown Pizza and Pasta.
“The Brewster Chamber of Commerce is pleased to have been a part of Assemblyman Kevin Byrne's ‘2021 Best in Business’ contest, and we are incredibly proud of the number of winning businesses from Brewster, most of which are Brewster Chamber members,” said Candice Sciarrillo, president of Brewster Chamber of Commerce.
“We love and appreciate all our businesses in the Mahopac-Carmel area, and were happy to work with Assemblyman Byrne to recognize everything they do for our community,” said Michael Celestino, CEO of the Greater Mahopac-Carmel Chamber of Commerce. “Congratulations to all our winning businesses and thank you to all our local businesses for their service to our area.”
“We are thrilled to see our local businesses being recognized,” said Michael Bucci, chairman of the Putnam County Business Council. “These awards are well deserved, and we want to recognize the hard work, sacrifices, and long nights that went behind the earning of these awards. Congratulations to each of these businesses and a special thanks to the residents in Assemblyman Byrne's district who voted.”
