Byrnes: Assembly Majority Budget Will Tax New Yorkers Out

A Statement from Assemblywoman Marjorie Byrnes (R,C-Caledonia)

“Talk about getting pushed out! That’s exactly what this budget does to the hardworking men and women of our state by imposing more than $14 billion in new taxes and raising spending to a record level of over $2 billion. With the investment coming in from Washington and our state’s higher than anticipated tax receipts last year thanks to the federal stimulus checks, our budget doesn’t need new taxes to be balanced. But what New Yorkers have always needed is Albany to be fiscally responsible, and it appears that even during a global pandemic they can’t resist an opportunity to impose permanent tax hikes that will permanently push New Yorkers and jobs out of state. I’m voting no.”
