Gov. Cuomo’s visit to Olcott today is good news for the residents and businesses who have been suffering from Lake Ontario’s flooding. I am pleased that the Governor wants to invest in preventative infrastructure and I encourage him to fully fund the Olcott breakwall. We also need to have all the remediation funds, which were passed by the state Legislature two years ago, released immediately to the property owners who have waited for these funds for far too long. I will continue working with the Governor and our hardworking local officials on the ground to do everything I can to mitigate and prevent flood damage along Lake Ontario’s south shore. Furthermore, we need the United States Senate to confirm my predecessor, Assemblywoman Jane Corwin, and the other appointees to the International Joint Commission (IJC), so that the IJC can take stronger action toward their responsibility to protect Americans’ lives and property.
