Calling All Secret Santas: Norris’ “Christmas In July” Toy Drive To End July 19

Donated Toys Will Help Children at Oishei Children’s Hospital

Assemblyman Mike Norris (R,C,I,Ref-Lockport) is calling on all the community’s “Secret Santas” for their assistance as the July 19th end date for his “Christmas in July” Toy Drive approaches. Dozens of toys have been donated by residents, but Norris would like to make a final plea to the community to help improve the hospital experience of sick and injured children at the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo which has served families throughout the greater Western New York region.

Donations are particularly low during the summer months and the hospital is in greatest need of new toys that would suit children who are at least age 10 or older. Specifically, the hospital said new toy and activity sets, like bracelet making kits and Legos, are very popular with patients. The toys help distract and occupy children during very stressful and scary times. Not only do the toys help the children but the parents and families of the children are provided some mental relief to see their child playing like a child should, despite their illness or injury.

Persons wishing to donate toys can drop items off new toys until July 19 at Norris’ office in Clarence (8180 Main Street, Clarence, NY 14221), the Clarence Public Library (3 Town Place, Clarence, NY 14031) or the Lockport Public Library (23 East Avenue, Lockport, NY 14094).
