Assemblyman Mike Norris (R,C-Lockport) is joining with Peter Robinson in his efforts to end childhood hunger by collecting jars of peanut butter, jelly and fluff with a community drive running from June 28 through July 26 throughout the 144^th Assembly District.

Norris has long admired Robinson and his volunteers in their work in this important mission, and wanted to use his platform as a state representative to help put an additional spotlight on the drive. Because of the pandemic, with more families seeking assistance at local food pantries, there is an even greater need for these items now. That’s why Norris is hoping his partnership with Robinson and the group Peanut Butter and Jelly (Lockport HQ) will make this year’s drive the best it can be to replenish supplies.

“Eating a peanut butter and jelly, or ‘PB and fluff’, sandwich is such a nostalgic and visceral memory for so many of us – it just really hits home how difficult it must be to be a child struggling with hunger,” said Norris. “This is a project I’ve admired for a long time, participated in as a citizen, and really wanted to help Peter and his volunteers expand the outreach to help our kids. I’m so glad the pandemic is moving in the right direction and I hope that our partnership will result in keeping every child in our community well-fed as families continue to recover from the pandemic and onward.”

Those wishing to help can drop off new, unopened jars of peanut butter, jelly, jam or fluff to Norris’ District Office in Clarence or any of the following partnering locations around the 144^th Assembly District from Monday, June 28 through Monday, July 26. Please note that only store-bought items will be accepted (unfortunately no homemade jams or jellies can be accepted). All donations will support local food pantries.
