Assemblyman Peter Abbate’s Offices to Participate in Annual Neighborhood Heating Fund Program

Once again this year, Assemblyman Peter Abbate’s Community Offices will participate in the Annual Neighborhood Heating Fund Program to help low income individuals and families with elevated heating bills to meet their monthly payments.

The Neighborhood Heating Fund founded by KeySpan, now National Grid assists individuals and families in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island and begins on December 8, 2009. Individuals can received up to $200 toward their heating bills depending on the amount of their bill, and may only apply once per year. Eligibility is based on HEAP Guidelines based on gross monthly income household income. (For example: maximum income of $2,030 for an individual and $3903 for a family of four) Applicants must also provide birth certificates for all family members, income statements, and various bill to be eligible. Funds are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The program is sponsored by HeartShare Human Services.
