Assemblywoman Sandy Galef will speak to area school children in Briarcliff, Carmel, Peekskill, Cortlandt, Garrison, and Ossining as part of a national program called "American Legislators Back to School Week." Galef will speak to students at the following times:
Galef will also visit Ossining High School on November 2 as a part of their Election Day curriculum. Assemblywoman Galef said, "I am delighted to have the opportunity to explain what we do in state government and to encourage young people to seek elected office or choose government as a career path. It is also important that youngsters become informed, involved citizens." The New York State Assembly is participating in the back to school program as a part of a national civic education program created and sponsored by the national Conference of State Legislators. The bi-partisan program gives legislators the opportunity to meet young constituents to answer questions, share ideas, listen to concerns, and impart greater understanding of how democracy works. |
