Speaker Heastie Continues Statewide Tour with Assemblymember Stern, Announcing $1 Million for the Huntington YMCA

Speaker Carl Heastie today continued his annual statewide tour at the Huntington YMCA with Assemblymember Steve Stern, where they presented the state championship winning swim team with a proclamation, toured the recently updated facility and announced $1 million for infrastructure improvements and the expansion of the facilities.

“The YMCA is such an important part of our communities – from childcare programs to building champions like the swimmers we met today at the Huntington YMCA,” Speaker Heastie said. “It was great to be here with Assemblymember Stern, to see the incredible work the YMCA is doing, the transformative impact of state investment in our communities and to congratulate the swim team on their state championship.”

The Huntington YMCA has served our children, seniors, teens and families for more than 75 years with outstanding activities, classes, summer camp and swim programs and so much more,” Assemblymember Stern said.“It was a real pleasure to have Speaker Heastie join me in presenting a Proclamation to the YMCA New York State Champion Bluefish swim team and see the recent renovations of the childcare wing, which provides a vital service to the hard-working parents in our community. I thank the Speaker for always taking the time to learn more about our priorities, hear our concerns and for his steadfast support and $1 million in funding for such an important and impactful organization in our community.”

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Stern together visited the Huntington YMCA and toured the facility, which received $125,000 to renovate the childcare wing, allowing them to better serve the families and community. Together they announced $1 million for infrastructure improvements and the expansion of the YMCA’s facilities. They also presented a proclamation to the Huntington YMCA’s swim team, congratulating them and celebrating their state championship winning season.
