PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Permits the town of Kent, Putnam county, to lease certain sports field
fences for advertisements
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Allows the town of Kent in Putnam County to lease municipal sports field
fences of Guglielmo Field, annually, at a nominal rent to not-for-profit
corporations or organizations for the purposes of advertising. With
revenue from said leases being used solely by the town's parks and
recreation department.
JUSTIFICATION:
The town of Kent has requested the ability to lease space on the fences
of Guglielmo Field for the purposes of advertising in order to increase
the revenue of the town's parks and recreation department to improve and
better maintain said sports field. Additionally, this may reduce the tax
burden on residents of the town.

AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to permitting the
town of Kent, Putnam county, to lease certain sports field fences for
advertisements
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The general municipal law is amended by adding a new
2 section 77-j to read as follows:
3 § 77-j. Sports field fence leases in the town of Kent, Putnam county.
4 Notwithstanding any provision of any general, special or local law or of
5 any charter to the contrary, the town of Kent, Putnam county, may lease
6 any and all sports field fences at Guglielmo Field, annually, at a nomi-
7 nal rent, to a not-for-profit corporation or organization, organized
8 under the laws of the state of New York for the purpose of permitting
9 the sale of advertising, with the revenues to be used solely for the
10 care of such Guglielmo Field in the town of Kent, Putnam county.
11 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
