Assemblyman Santabarbara Statement on Chancellor Malatras’ Resignation

“SUNY deserves a leader of integrity, and Chancellor Malatras' behavior under the Cuomo administration and beyond shows his inability to live up to the standards enshrined into our schools. With his resignation, SUNY now has the opportunity to appoint a new chancellor who will lead the nation’s largest higher education system into the future.
In order to provide the highest quality education to the greatest number of people, the next chancellor must epitomize New York’s values and have the merits to live up to SUNY’s mission. As a SUNY alumnus myself, I look forward to seeing a robust and thorough search for a candidate ready and able to lead.”
