Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara Honors Local Veterans, Families During Special Ceremony

NEW Additions to Veterans Memorial to be Unveiled

On Saturday, June 24th, Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara will be hosting a special ceremony at the VIAPORT Rotterdam Mall honoring three local veterans.

NEW Additions to the Veterans Memorial to be unveiled during the event:

  • Frederick D. Clark II – Frederick D. Clark II joined the United States Air Force in 1964, serving for four years as a Senior Airman. Fred joined the New York National Guard where he served for 26 years in the 42nd Infantry Division retiring as a Sergeant First Class.Fred has been an active member of the AMVETS Post 35 in Rotterdam serving as Commander for four years from 2014-2017
  • Rudolf F. Vojnar – Rudolf (Rudy) F. Vojnar joined the United States Marine Corps in 1944 and participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa in 1945. Rudy was a recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds received in action in 1945. He was a life member of the 6th Marine Division, the 22nd Marines, DAV Post 23, VFW Post 1895 and the Electric City Marine Corps League.
  • James A, Wilson – James Wilson enlisted in the United State Navy in 1944 and served until 1949. James was the Executive Director of Schenectady County Veterans Service Agency until his retirement in 1990. James received various military medals and decorations during his service including the American Theater Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African Medal, Navy Occupation (Europe) Medal, and Navy Victory Medal.He was also a member of various veterans support organizations, including the Schenectady County Veterans’ Organizations, serving 7 terms as President, VFW District Commander, NYS Veterans Advisory Committee, AMVETS, 369th Veterans Association, Disabled Americans Veterans Chapter 88, Navy Memorial, USS Little Rock Association (Chairman Emeritus), Sampson Navy WWII Association, and the Polish American Veterans;
