Assemblyman Santabarbara Celebrates “Art of the Brick” LEGO® Exhibit Opening in Downtown Schenectady

This morning, Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara joined community leaders, partners, and local families to officially welcome The Art of the Brick to Downtown Schenectady—a world-renowned LEGO® exhibit that has inspired more than 10 million visitors across 100 cities worldwide.

Hosted at Armory Studios NY, the immersive exhibit showcases original LEGO® sculptures and reimagined masterpieces, including Michelangelo’s David, Van Gogh’s Starry Night, and a 6-meter-long T. Rex – all crafted entirely from LEGO® bricks.

“As a civil engineer and a lifelong LEGO® enthusiast, this exhibit holds a special place for me,” said Assemblyman Santabarbara. “LEGO® bricks sparked my imagination as a child, and years later, I had the chance to relive those moments with my kids. This is more than just an exhibit—it’s a celebration of creativity, engineering, and the spirit of community that defines Schenectady.”

The event highlighted ongoing efforts to boost local tourism and create engaging, family-friendly destinations throughout the electric city. Partners supporting the initiative include Discover Schenectady, Armory Studios NY, Metroplex, and the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation.

“This exhibit is another reminder that Schenectady is a place where innovation and imagination thrive,” Santabarbara added. “We’re building more than attractions—we’re building experiences that bring people together.”
