Funding Made Possible New Addition to Department, Strengthening Emergency Response Capabilities

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara was joined by Mayor Michael Cinquanti, City of Amsterdam officials, and members of the Amsterdam Fire Department today to unveil a new ambulance purchased with $340,000 in state funding he secured in the State Budget.

The new ambulance will strengthen the department’s emergency response capabilities and help ensure first responders have the equipment needed to provide critical emergency medical services to residents throughout the community.

“Public safety starts with making sure our first responders have the tools they need to do their jobs safely and effectively,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “I worked to secure this funding for the Amsterdam Fire Department to help make this new ambulance possible. This addition to the Amsterdam fire department will help ensure residents continue to receive the high-quality emergency medical care they depend on.”

“With the addition of this new ambulance, the City of Amsterdam and its fire department are doubling down on our commitment to provide the residents of our community the assurances they need and deserve when emergency medical services and transports are needed,” said City of Amsterdam Mayor Michael Cinquanti. “This commitment would not be possible without the dedicated advocacy of our Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. His ability to secure this new grant is both literally and figuratively a lifesaver for our city.”

Fire Chief Anthony Agresta said, “On behalf of the Amsterdam Fire Department I would like to thank Assemblyman Santabarbara for his continued support of not only the fire department but the entire City of Amsterdam. The addition of this ambulance to the fire department fleet will allow us to better serve our residents in their times of need.Assemblyman Santabarbara has always been willing to help, making sure we have the tools needed, to address a call volume that has substantially increased in recent years.”

The funding is part of Assemblyman Santabarbara’s ongoing efforts to support local first responders and strengthen public safety throughout the region. The new ambulance will enhance the department’s ability to respond to emergencies and provide lifesaving care when residents need it most.
