Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara Calls for Greater Transparency in Rental Car Pricing
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara is taking action to improve transparency for consumers by co-sponsoring A10913, new legislation that would require rental car companies to disclose all mandatory fees and additional charges before customers complete a rental agreement.
Too often, consumers reserve a rental vehicle expecting to pay one price, only to discover additional mandatory fees when they arrive to pick up the car. A10913 would help improve transparency by requiring rental car companies to disclose all associated fees before a rental agreement is finalized.
“Consumers deserve honest, upfront pricing,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “No one should be caught off guard by mandatory fees that weren’t clearly disclosed. This legislation is about giving consumers the information they need to make informed decisions and protecting them from unexpected costs.”
The bill would require rental car companies to clearly disclose all mandatory fees and additional charges before a rental agreement is completed, allowing consumers to better compare prices and avoid surprise costs.
“As the cost of travel continues to rise, consumers deserve clear pricing from the start,” Santabarbara said. “Greater transparency helps families, business travelers, and visitors make informed decisions and ensures they know exactly what they’re paying before they drive away.”
Assemblyman Santabarbara said he will continue supporting legislation that strengthens consumer protections and promotes greater transparency in the marketplace.
