People with disabilities from across the region are set to take the field at Schenectady’s Central Park for Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara’s Annual Disability Baseball Day, bringing together participants, families, caregivers, disability service providers and members of the local baseball community for a morning on the A-Diamond.

The annual event gives people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to hit, throw, run the bases and enjoy baseball in an inclusive and supportive setting. Baseball volunteers will work directly with participants throughout the clinic, adapting activities so everyone has an opportunity to take part.

Some of the region’s well-known disability service providers are expected to participate, including Liberty ARC, Lexington ARC, Wildwood Schools and Crossroads Center for Children.

Santabarbara, Chair of the New York State Assembly Committee on People with Disabilities and father of a son with autism, hosts the annual event in partnership with the City of Schenectady.

Participants with disabilities taking the field and working directly with baseball volunteers on hitting, throwing, fielding and running the bases. The event will bring together participants from several disability organizations and provide strong opportunities for photos and video showing inclusive baseball in action.
