“Restoring funding to OPWDD is the right thing to do,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara (D-Rotterdam). “The programs it supports are vital to our families. They can change the lives of the developmentally disabled by giving them the opportunity to be a part of our community.”

Assemblyman Santabarbara stood up with legislators earlier today to push for the passage of a bill that would provide a mechanism to restore OPWDD funding (A.6692).

The 2013-14 state budget cut $90 million from the OPWDD, and with federal matching funds taken into account, the impact totals $180 million.

Santabarbara noted that he is a co-sponsor of the bill.
