Assemblyman Santabarbara: OPWDD Services to Stay Intact

“The vital services people with disabilities and their families depend on are no longer in jeopardy,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara (D-Rotterdam). “These programs can mean the world to people with disabilities, giving them the opportunity to play an active role in our communities.”

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara (D-Rotterdam) announced that the Assembly has passed legislation to ensure no cuts will be made to services offered through the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (A.6692-C).

Earlier this month Assemblyman Santabarbara stood up with legislators to push for the passage of a bill that would provide a mechanism to restore OPWDD funding. The legislation is a result of a state-wide push and was sponsored by ever member of the Assembly. Santabarbara said the bill now must be passed in the Senate before being sent to the Governor for his signature.
