Assemblyman Santabarbara Announces $10 Million for Upstate Transit

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara announced on Sunday that the state budget will invest an additional $10 million in the upstate transit systems.

“Our upstate families, students and seniors rely on our transit systems each and every day and it’s important that we secured the critical funding to ensure reliable service is maintained in our region,” said Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. “I strongly advocated for this increase in funding for transportation infrastructure because it is a smart investment in the future of our upstate region that will strengthen our local economies and support job creation.”

The increase in funding for the upstate transit systems will help maintain existing infrastructure and grow the services offered by organizations like the Capital District Transportation Authority, which serves nearly 300,000 people in the region each work week.

Following the governor’s budget proposal, Assemblyman Santabarbara advocated repeatedly for increasing transit funding in the upstate communities. This was a key investment he pushed for because the transit systems are essential to ensuring thriving communities in our region.
