Valentines for Vets

A Special THANK YOU from students to veterans on Valentine’s Day

Elementary school students at Bradt Primary School in Rotterdam are set to present hundreds of specially prepared Valentine’s Day cards to local veterans this Thursday, February 13th.

The presentation is part of Assemblyman Santabarbara’s annual Valentines for Vets program that gives students an opportunity to show gratitude and appreciation to local veterans while learning more about their service to our country.

Assemblyman Santabarbara, who served in the US Army Reserve and now on the Assembly’s Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, will be joined by local veterans for a special salute to local veterans. The ceremony at the school will begin with a number of musical performances from the students that will begin with the National Anthem. Students will then share cards with a number of veterans expected for the event.

The program, in its 8th year now, involves a number of schools in Santabarbara’s Assembly district producing hundreds of special prepared Valentine’s Day ‘THANK YOU’ cards that are delivered to veterans staying at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center following the event.
