Miller Says Fair Pay Due For Home Care Workers

Assemblyman Brian Miller (R,I,C-New Hartford) joined home care workers and advocates in fighting for competitive pay in the 2022-23 State Budget. The Assemblyman sponsors legislation to set the base minimum wage and reimbursements for home care workers at 150 percent of the regional minimum wage.

“Home care providers are increasingly in demand to tend to the needs of many New Yorkers who require support and care at home. Their important work keeps many in their homes with families and loved ones and out of institutions,” said Miller. “New York should throw its support behind these compassionate professionals by providing a wage that is competitive and befitting of their invaluable work.”

The one-house Assembly budget bill, a proposal outlining the Assembly majority’s budget priorities, included similar language to Miller’s home care workers bill. The assemblyman is hopeful that budget negotiations will consider the needs of home care workers.
