Miller Helps with Local Food Drive

Assemblyman Brian Miller (R,I,C,Ref-New Hartford) recently helped at a drive-through food drive held at Herkimer County Community College that provided 4,000 gallons of free milk and 48,000 other essential food products to local residents in need. Miller helped personally hand out some of the 1,200 boxes, each containing 20 pounds of products, including fresh produce and dairy.

“The coronavirus pandemic has affected our community in so many different ways. As I am continuing to rebuild my own strength after recovering from COVID, it is my pleasure and honor to be able to safely be out and helping our community again at essential events like this,” said Miller. “Even in the best of times, too many families go hungry. The struggle to keep food on the table now is even more real. I’m proud to be able to help in this small way, and I would encourage everyone to continue donating items to their local food pantries because this need will not be going away any time soon. Thank you so much to all of the dairy farmers and community partners who made this food drive possible.”

Assemblyman Miller encourages anyone in need to seek assistance from their local food bank or food pantry. To find a food bank or pantry near you, please go to https://www.health.ny.gov/prevention/nutrition/hpnap/regional_foodbank_map.htm or contact your local parish.
