“Today I voted to immediately revoke the emergency powers that were granted to the governor last year and establish legislative oversight overcurrent directives. We cannot continue to let the governor’s power go unchecked. This bill will curtail his ability to act unilaterally and will rightfully restore the checks and balances that are the bedrock of good government. This legislation also returns power to our local governments.

“Regardless of how the governor wants to spin this, I want to make it very clear that today we voted to revoke his powers. This is a solid direction that will allow us to return to normal working order.”
