A statement by Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I,Ref-Schoharie) on the newly proposed prison voting bill

“This is frankly insane. While I’m usually in favor of granting voting rights to as many people as possible, a beyond the pale approach like this is an insult to the very tenants of our democracy. Every rapist, terrorist, murderer and pedophile behind bars is going to have their voting restriction lifted? There’s a reason that their rights are restricted they’ve broken the law. Giving them voting access like this is as thoughtless as it is foolhardy.”
