Tague Slams New Mandate That Forces Children as Young as 2 to Wear Masks for Hours in Childcare, Summer Camps

Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I-Schoharie) is sounding off against new guidelines issued by Gov. Cuomo’s state Department of Health that mandate children in childcare centers and summer camps as young as 2 years old wear masks, whether indoors or outdoors, for periods that could last several hours at a time. Some local health officials have stated facilities with children found to be in violation of this mandate could be liable to pay penalties as high as $1,500 per child, per day in fines

“This mandate imperils our childcare providers and summer camp operators while flying in the face of common sense that anyone who’s spent any significant amount of time around young children should possess,” said Tague. “Placing an expectation on toddlers to mask up while vaccinated adults are told they don’t need to any longer is simply ridiculous, and is yet another mandate that will hurt New York families and businesses for no good reason.”
