DiPietro: Governor Still Relying On Smoke And Mirrors For Economic Help

As a small-businessman, I know just how burdensome the state regulations and tax code can be. The fact that the governor continues to pick winners and losers in regard to his Start-Up NY plan shows he’s more interested in corporate welfare than he is about long-term economic growth. We heard a lot of flowery, focus-group-tested rhetoric today, weaved around do-nothing commissions and once-a-year summits. If we want to get New York out of the cellar of economic friendliness, we have to solve the whole problem for everybody and not just corporate donors.
