DiPietro Encourages Majority Legislators to Sign Petition to Subpoena Dr. Zucker

Today, Assemblyman Dave DiPietro (R,C,I- East Aurora) joined Minority members of the Assembly Oversight, Analysis and Investigation Committee, Joseph Angelino (R,C,I-Norwich) and Michael Montesano (R,C,I,LBT- Glen Head), to urge their Majority counterparts to support efforts to issue a subpoena to New York State Commissioner of Health Dr. Howard A. Zucker to testify before the Legislature.

Legislators held a press conference to encourage bipartisan cooperation to use Section 62-A of Article 4 of the Legislative Law to compel Gov. Cuomo and Commissioner Zucker to turn over all data on nursing home deaths and force them to answer what the real number of deaths are, what led to the policy decisions that caused the disaster and why the governor’s administration actively misled New Yorkers on the situation in nursing homes.

“If my colleagues on the other side of the aisle are serious about their support for our senior citizens and nursing home residents, they must encourage the members of the Assembly Oversight, Analysis and Investigation Committee to support efforts to hold the governor and Commissioner Zucker accountable. Gov. Cuomo and Commissioner Zucker have lied and misled us every step of the way, and thousands of New Yorkers lost their lives because of the actions they took. It is our responsibility to get to the bottom of this. This is an opportunity for us all to put politics aside and do the right thing.”
