For too many years, historians have ignored the important roles women played throughout American history causing their accomplishments to be absent from later generations' history books. In an effort to convey these lost untold stories, I, along with the Mid-Hudson Library System, am proud to present Women's History in the Hudson Valley: Ten Stories from Columbia and Dutchess Counties. This booklet series focuses on retelling the lives and deeds of extraordinary local women, ultimately ensuring they are remembered for their significance in history.

You can read about the extraordinary contributions these women have made to our community and country by clicking on the History Booklets or by visiting your local library and asking for a copy of the 2024 Women's History in the Hudson Valley: Ten Stories from Columbia and Dutchess Counties.

If you know any local Hudson Valley women deserving of recognition please share with us the names for future volumes. Also, check with your library to learn about local events that will celebrate the women of our region.
