Smith Participates In Brookhaven’s Tenth Annual Polar Plunge

Recently, Assemblyman Doug Smith (5th District) was privileged to take part in the Tenth Annual “Polar Plunge: Freezin’ for a Reason,” hosted by the Special Olympics of New York in Brookhaven to raise money for the organization. Smith’s team, named “New York State Of Mind,” consisted of Assembly colleagues Andrew Garbarino, Anthony Palumbo, Joe DeStefano and Michael Fitzpatrick, as well as Sen. Monica Martinez.

“Despite the cold winter weather, I was thrilled to take the polar plunge to support this great cause,” Smith said. “I am proud of our team of New York legislators, who raised almost $2,000 to support these incredible athletes as they strive to achieve their athletic dreams. I also look forward to my continued partnership with the Special Olympics New York as they continue to make a difference in my community and in communities throughout New York state.”
