Assemblymember Grace Lee Brings Mobile Office Hours to Confucius Plaza to Meet Directly with Community Members

As part of her ongoing Mobile Office Hours, Assemblymember Grace Lee’s office met with Chinatown community members at Confucius Plaza on Thursday. The event gave community members an opportunity to speak directly with the office of Assemblymember Lee about pressing neighborhood issues, discuss district happenings, access essential resources, and receive multilingual assistance in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.

“With all the confusion and chaos from the federal government right now, it’s more important than ever for local government to show up, listen, and provide support,” said Assemblymember Grace Lee. “Our Mobile Office Hours at Confucius Plaza were an opportunity to connect directly with the community, answer questions, and reassure residents that despite the uncertainty, we’re here for them and ready to connect them with resources that can improve their daily lives. I’m grateful to District Leaders Jackie Wong and Justin Yu for joining us and for their steadfast advocacy for Chinatown.”

Mobile Office Hours is an initiative by the Assemblymember’s office to bring government services directly to residential buildings, senior communities, and high traffic neighborhood hubs to ensure support reaches as many community members as possible.

Upcoming dates in July include:

  • July 28th at Metro Acres Market (175 Clinton St)
  • July 30th at Good Companions Senior Center (334 Madison St)

District leaders Justin Yu and Jacky Wong joined the event to engage with community members and emphasize the importance of bringing government services directly to constituents.

Assemblymember Grace Lee only has one district office, but her mobile office hours are incredibly convenient for more people to meet with her staff and be heard,” said District Leader Jacky Wong. “People in Chinatown are already feeling the pressure of federal cuts to SNAP and Medicaid. Assemblymember Lee’s office being here and having both Cantonese and Mandarin language services allows Chinatown community members to talk to someone directly about their concerns.”

“I’m very glad that Assemblymember Grace Lee’s office came to Confucius Plaza today,” said District Leader Justin Yu. “People in Chinatown need to know that the state has resources to help them. I hope that mobile office hours like this can happen regularly so that the community can continue speaking with Assemblymember Lee’s team.
