Mikulin Saves Lives with Fall Blood Drive

Assemblyman John Mikulin (R,C,I-Bethpage) is pleased to announce 59 pints of blood were collected at a blood drive offered by the New York Blood Center Services at Levittown Fire Department headquarters located at 120 Gardiners Avenue, Levittown on Thursday, Oct.15. The event was held through the combined efforts of Town of Hempstead Councilman Dennis Dunne, Sr., the Levittown Fire Department and Assemblyman David McDonough.  All social distancing guidelines were in place to ensure donor and volunteer safety.

“The blood collected today will save countless lives,” said Mikulin. “It is great to see the community come together during these difficult times as blood donations are needed across the county. The pandemic has created a blood shortage and continued donations are essential. Thank you to all who donated.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has depleted the nation’s supply of blood on hand. One single donation can save up to three lives. A steady supply of blood ensures that doctors and other medical professionals can save the lives of patients of the COVID-19 virus as well as everyday medical emergencies.
