Walsh Criticizes Assembly Budget as Out of Touch with New Yorkers
March 13, 2026
"The Assembly state budget proposal represents a massive increase in spending compared to when I first took office in 2017, when the budget was $162 billion. In just a few years, proposed spending has grown by more than $100 billion. At a time when many New Yorkers are struggling with affordability, we cannot spend our way out of an affordability crisis. We need to focus on fiscal responsibility, rein in spending, and ensure taxpayer dollars are being used effectively to deliver real results for our constituents."
