Simpson Joins Big Brothers Big Sisters for Mentorship Day at Warren County Fish Hatchery

Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C-Adirondack) and members of his staff spent several hours today fishing with youth from Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks at the Warren County Fish Hatchery.

“A good mentor doesn’t have to have all the answers. They just have to show up,” Simpson said. “Spending time on the water today with these young people and the Bigs who stand by them was a reminder that the simple things such as patience, a conversation and a little time outdoors can change the way a kid sees what’s possible.”

The outing brought Bigs and Littles together at the county hatchery in Warrensburg for a few hours of fishing and time on the grounds. Simpson said programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters give children facing adversity a consistent adult in their corner.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks, based in Glens Falls, has matched adult mentors with youth in Warren, Washington and northern Saratoga counties since 1975.
