Assemblymember Phil Steck Presents $150,000 Grant to Town of Niskayuna for Upgrades to Baseball Fields at Blatnick Park
Niskayuna, NY – Assemblymember Phil Steck (D-Colonie) today presented a $150,000 New York State grant to the Town of Niskayuna to fund much-needed upgrades to the baseball fields at Blatnick Park. The funding will help improve playing surfaces, fix drainage issues, update field infrastructure, and enhance accessibility and safety for the many local youth and community leagues that use the park each year.
“Blatnick Park’s baseball fields are a cornerstone of youth recreation in Niskayuna,” said Assemblymember Phil Steck. “Supervisor Erin Cassady-Dorion and her team do an outstanding job turning these grant-funded projects into action quickly and efficiently, ensuring the community sees the impact right away. I truly enjoy working with them because their focus is always on meaningful improvements that directly benefit local families. This funding will enhance the quality and safety of the fields, strengthen youth programs, and make Niskayuna Baseball an even greater source of pride for the community.”
Town Supervisor Erin Cassady-Dorion thanked Assemblymember Steck for his continued partnership. “Assemblymember Steck has been an incredible partner in upgrading and enhancing the parks, green spaces, and facilities in Niskayuna. He listens to hear where his involvement can help and jumps in to talk through ideas, outline plans and timelines, and make sure we have the funding we need to make it happen quickly.”
“Today is a great day for our community and for Niskayuna Baseball,” said Phil Sidoti, President, Niskayuna Baseball League. “This grant will allow us to make much-needed improvements to our fields and ultimately provide a better baseball experience for our kids. We’d like to thank Town Supervisor Erin Cassady-Dorion and the Town for their support and partnership, and Assemblymember Phil Steck and his team for making this possible.”
Blatnick Park is a central gathering place for the Niskayuna community, hosting youth baseball, softball, and other recreational activities throughout the year. The upgrades will help the town continue its commitment to maintaining first-rate facilities that bring people together and support the physical and social well-being of residents.
