Contract to be Solicited for Cranberry Hole Road, Among Other LIRR Bridges
Sag Harbor, NY – Assemblyman Tommy John Schiavoni is proud to announce that three bridges that pass over Long Island Railroad (LIRR) tracks located in the First Assembly District, owned and maintained by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) are scheduled be replaced. Contracts are now in the prequalification stage for Cranberry Hole Road (Amagansett), River Avenue (Eastport), Sagg Road and (Sagaponack), and are scheduled to be awarded by the end of 2025.
Statement of Qualifications (SOQs) have been submitted by Design/Build teams and are evaluated to create a shortlist of qualified proposers that possess the capability and experience necessary to undertake and successfully complete the work in contract. MTA Construction and Design will establish a shortlist of up to four proposers to ensure adequate competition, and these shortlisted proposers will ultimately receive the Request for Proposal.
Assemblyman Tommy John Schiavoni said: “After advocacy from my office and officials from the Town of East Hampton, Cranberry Hole Bridge in Amagansett, and other LIRR bridges will finally see state resources and will be replaced. This is a step forward for these projects, some of which have awaited funding allocations for far too long. My office has been informed that contracts will be awarded on an aggressive timeline, emphasizing the necessity of these critical infrastructure projects. I applaud MTA’s attention to the dire state of transportation needs on the East End.”
