Protecting Our Immigrant Neighbors - Defending Dignity, Safety and Opportunity for All

Protecting Immigrants in our Communities

New York is home to people from every corner of the world, and our immigrant communities help make our state stronger, more vibrant and more resilient. They are our friends, neighbors, coworkers and loved ones who contribute to our economy, enrich our culture and help communities thrive every day.

As immigration enforcement actions intensify across the country, many families are living with growing uncertainty. Places once considered safe – churches, schools, workplaces and even homes – are now places where people live in fear of sudden raids and being separated from their families. Reports of masked agents, a lack of transparency and aggressive enforcement tactics have only deepened fear and mistrust in communities nationwide.

In response, the Assembly Majority took action to protect civil rights, uphold due process and defend the dignity and safety of all New Yorkers. The state budget includes measures to protect sensitive locations, strengthen accountability, support immigrant children and ensure local resources remain focused on real public safety threats – not tearing families apart.

New York has always been a place of opportunity, inclusion and hope. We remain committed to protecting our immigrant neighbors and ensuring every family is treated with dignity, fairness and respect.
