Assemblymember Taylor made sure the voices of his constituents were heard during the Joint Legislative Budget Hearing on Housing on February 4, 2019.

On January 23, 2019, Assemblymember Al Taylor helped to pass the Jose Peralta New York State DREAM Act with Assemblymember Carmen de la Rosa and Assemblymember Marcos Crespo.

On November 3rd, 2018, Assemblymember Al Taylor spoke at a rally held in support of the tenants of 775 Riverside Drive, who have been displaced since the building was partially destroyed by a fire in January 2018.

Constituents raised concerns about water quality during the June “Listening Tour” at the Polo Grounds Housing Complex on June 23, 2018. Assembly Member Taylor has since contacted the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and informed them that water testing has to be performed in the Polo Grounds.

Assemblymember Al Taylor joined State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, members of the New York State Association of Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus and others in support of legal action filed by the Attorney General to stop the federal government from including questions regarding citizenship in the 2020 Census. A citizenship question, which the government has not asked in the Census since 1950, could cause many to avoid being counted in the Census which could sharply reduce federal aid to New York and other states where many immigrants and naturalized citizens live.
