- Assemblymember Al Taylor joined State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, members of the New York State Association of Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Legislative Caucus and others in support of legal action filed by the Attorney General to stop the federal government from including questions regarding citizenship in the 2020 Census. A citizenship question, which the government has not asked in the Census since 1950, could cause many to avoid being counted in the Census which could sharply reduce federal aid to New York and other states where many immigrants and naturalized citizens live.
