The attack on Temple Israel in Michigan is horrifying and heartbreaking. No one should have to fear for their safety in their house of worship, yet Jewish communities across the country are increasingly living with that fear. It is agonizing that we find ourselves issuing statements like this again and again, and yet we can’t allow antisemitic violence to become normalized. It is not normal, and it is not acceptable. My heart is with the Temple Israel community, and with Jewish families everywhere, like mine, who feel shaken.
