Lavine Outraged by Anti-Israel Demonstration

Glen Cove, New York – New York State Assemblymember Charles Lavine has issued the following statement in response to an anti-Israel demonstration on Wednesday (November 19, 2025) outside Park East Synagogue, an Orthodox Jewish congregation in upper Manhattan:

“I am disgusted by this hate-fueled incident in which a crowd of instigators used blatantly antisemitic language to intimidate those participating in a peaceful event inside to help American Jews immigrate to Israel. This incident marks a return to the kind of protesting we saw in the aftermath of the October 7th attacks and is meant to do one thing: to foment anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish sentiment across the United States and the world. We must stand together in condemning this kind of behavior, which is repugnant to American values.”

Assemblymember Charles Lavine serves as Chairman of the Assembly Judiciary Committee and as President of the New York Chapter of the National Association of Jewish Legislators and a member of its National Board of Directors.
