Assemblyman Norber Honors Inka Fé During Fiestas Patrias
Peruvian immigrants Nelly and Marjory Moreno have owned and operated Inka Fé since 2023
On behalf of the 16th Assembly District, Assemblyman Daniel Norber (R,C-Great Neck) presented Inka Fé with an official Assembly proclamation. Inka Fe is a known Peruvian café, restaurant and bakery in Great Neck. The family-run business was recognized for its outstanding contributions to the community and embodiment of the Peruvian-American spirit during the celebration of Peruvian Independence Day, or “Fiestas Patrias.”
Inka Fé is run by a mother-daughter duo, Nelly Ponce (mother) and Marjory Moreno (Daughter). Their story is one of entrepreneurial spirit that captures the American dream. Nelly immigrated from Peru to provide a better future for her family. She passed down her passion for baking authentic Peruvian pastries to Marjory. At just 13 years old, Marjory began selling alfajores, creating what would later become the vision for Inka Fé. Since opening in July of 2023, their café has served thousands of patrons offering authentic Peruvian dishes and desserts that bring the flavors of Peru to Long Island. Their dedication to preserving and promoting Peruvian culture through their culinary creations makes them a proud example of the American Dream.
“At 23 years old, I opened this restaurant alongside my mother with no formal experience—just faith, heart and a dream passed down through generations. What began with one homemade alfajor has grown into a vibrant celebration of Peruvian culture and community. Inka Fé is more than a restaurant, it’s a testament to the power of perseverance, the grace of God and the unbreakable bond between mother and daughter,” said Marjory Moreno.
“Inka Fe’s journey reflects the heart of the Peruvian-American community, hard work and cultural pride. Nelly and Marjory’s passion for sharing Peru’s flavors has enabled their American Dream. Their story is uplifting, and our community is stronger for having them here. The 16th Assembly District is proud to honor their legacy this Fiestas Patrias,” said Assemblyman Norber.
“Inka Fe’s story of resilience and hard work to accomplish the impossible is a testament to what Peruvians can accomplish in this nation,” said Roxana Bradley, Peruvian American Chamber of Long Island (PACLI). “I am honored to have joined Marjory Moreno and her family as she received a proclamation and recognition from the New York State Assembly. It is always great to know that our public officials support the Peruvian-American community and the contributions we make to New York state. I look forward to continuing our work to help Peruvian-American businesses across Long Island,” concluded Ms. Bradley.
