Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan Secures $80,000 in Funding to Enhance Security at the Seneca County Jail

Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan (R,C-Manchester) is proud to announce that he has secured $80,000 in state funding to support the purchase of a state-of-the-art body scanner for the Seneca County Jail. This critical investment will help enhance security by detecting contraband and ensuring the safety of correctional staff, inmates and visitors.

During his recent visit to the facility, Assemblyman Gallahan also toured the jail alongside Jail Lt. Joshua Kierst, learning more about daily operations and the ongoing efforts to maintain a secure and professional environment for both staff and inmates.

“I am proud to deliver this funding to help strengthen safety measures at the Seneca County Jail,” said Assemblyman Gallahan. “Our correctional officers and staff work tirelessly to maintain order and protect our communities. This new technology will help prevent dangerous contraband from entering the facility and further ensure the well-being of everyone inside.”

“I want to thank Assemblyman Gallahan for providing this grant to the Seneca County Sheriff's Office towards the purchase of a body scanner for our correctional facility. This technology will undoubtedly help to keep our members and incarcerated individuals safer from the dangerous contraband that plagues our correctional facilities. Since taking office, the body scanner has been one of our top priorities, and this grant brings us one step closer. I also want to thank Chairman Enslow for his partnership with this worthwhile project,” said Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson.

“We’re grateful to Assemblyman Gallahan for his continued support of Seneca County and our sheriff’s office. Investments like this help strengthen our ability to keep both staff and inmates safe while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism at our facility. This partnership shows what can be achieved when state and local leaders work together to protect our communities,” said Seneca County Board of Supervisors Chairman Michael Enslow.

Assemblyman Gallahan remains committed to supporting public safety initiatives across the 131st Assembly District. By securing this funding, he continues to advocate for the tools and resources needed to keep local facilities secure and communities safe.
