Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon (D-Utica/Rome) announced that she hosted a roundtable, in conjunction with the Assembly Committee on Economic Development and the Subcommittee on Export Trade, on Tuesday, August 13, to discuss trade policies and programs in New York State.

“As chair of the Assembly’s Subcommittee on Export Trade, it’s my job to make sure the needs of our state’s hardworking business leaders are addressed,” said Buttenschon. “An important part of meeting that goal is hearing directly from entrepreneurs about how our state government can better help them thrive.”

Buttenschon was joined at the roundtable by several local business owners and economic leaders from across the state who shared their experiences with export trade issues and concerns about the role of state policies. Topics of discussion included current state resources, the effectiveness of state efforts to increase trade and the effect of federal trade policy on local businesses.

“Businesses and organizations in the Mohawk Valley and Central New York never cease to impress me, and today’s event is no different,” said Buttenschon. “Today through the eyes of New York business owners and representatives, my colleagues and I learned so much regarding education and outreach efforts needed to encourage further exports out of the state in order to ensure our competitiveness on a domestic and global scale.”
