Assemblywoman Buttenschon Partners with Comets, UCFC for Second Annual Winter Accessories Drive
Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon (D, I-Utica/Rome) is again partnering with the Utica Comets and the Utica City Football Club to host her second annual Winter Accessories Drive. Donations of new hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for children and adults will be collected at upcoming Utica Comets and Utica City FC contests at the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
“It’s more important than ever that we come together as a community to help each other through difficult times,” Buttenschon said. “Mohawk Valley residents always step up to extend a helping hand to others. I want to thank Rob Esche, the Comets and UCFC for teaming up with us again this year to help keep local residents warm this winter. And thank you to the Oneida Herkimer Solid Waste Authority for donating collection boxes for the drive.”
“We are happy to partner with Assemblywoman Buttenschon again to collect hats, gloves and scarves for local families in need,” said Utica Comets and Utica City FC President Rob Esche. “We encourage fans who are attending upcoming games at the Adirondack Bank Center to bring their donations to upcoming Comets and UCFC games and drop them in the collection boxes that we’ve put in the entrance lobbies.”
“Utica City FC is so thankful for the support we’ve received from the community. This is one way we can give back and support those in need this winter,” said UCFC head coach Ryan Hall.
The winter drive collects winter hats, mittens, gloves and scarves to donate to Mohawk Valley families. Donations can be dropped in designated collection boxes in the main entrances of the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium through December 5. Items can also be dropped off at Buttenschon’s district office in the Utica State Office Building at 207 Genesee St., from 8.a.m to 6 p.m. Collection boxes are in place at the 1st and 2nd floor entrances.
Fans attending games at the Adirondack Bank Center can find labeled collection boxes for the winter accessories drive in the main entranceways at these upcoming Utica Comets and Utica City FC games:
- Utica Comets games: 11/19, 11/20, 11/24, 12/01
- Utica City Football Club game: 12/05
