Princesses and Monsters and Dinosaurs, Oh My! Assemblyman Colton Welcomes Trick-or-Treaters

It was a boo-tiful afternoon for trick-or-treating as Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) greeted neighborhood children with candy, puzzles and free books on Halloween.

All in all, the assemblyman and his staff, waiting outside his district office at 155 Kings Highway, gave out treats to some 600 youngsters, many in inventive costumes.

“I was delighted to share a bit of the Halloween spirit with the children who passed by my office,” said Assemblyman Colton. “It was wonderful to see their excitement when we gave them candy, and also when we told them that they could pick out a book for free. I have no doubt that the candy got gobbled up quickly, but the books are something that they can enjoy for a long time, and which can help them develop a lifelong love of reading.”

The candy for the event was donated by two not-for-profit organizations, Chinese American Social Services and UA3. The books that were distributed have been collected over the past couple of months as part of the book drive sponsored by Assemblyman Colton and City Councilmember Susan Zhuang (D—Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, Gravesend, Dyker Heights, Boro Park and Sunset Park).
