Assemblyman Colton Distributes Turkeys in Advance of Thanksgiving
Across southwestern Brooklyn, the Thanksgiving countdown is underway, as Assemblyman William Colton (D—Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Dyker Heights) has begun distributing turkeys to a variety of community groups within his district for them to give to members.
The distribution began on Wednesday, November 8 at the St. Athanasius Center on Bay Parkway; stops at the St. Dominic Center on Thursday, November 9; St. Mary Mother of Jesus Church and Most Precious Blood Church on Monday, November 13; St. Finbar Church and Our Lady of Grace Church on Tuesday, November 14; Marlboro Houses and St. Simon & Jude Church on Wednesday, November 15; the Sephardic Center and the Lodge Older Adult Center on Thursday, November 16; and the Bensonhurst Center and the JCH Center on Friday, November 17 follow.
“As the festive season begins, I try to do my part to make sure that residents around the district are able to celebrate, even when money is tight, and to support local organizations that are instrumental in helping members maintain their quality of life,” said Assemblyman Colton. “I also enjoy visiting with all the groups, which do critical work impacting the daily lives of my constituents in so many ways. I look forward, every year, to meeting members and sharing the joy of the holidays with them.”
The turkey distribution is a long-standing tradition for Assemblyman Colton.
Each of the organizations receives two turkeys which they will give to members selected through a raffle or other means.
